i got the info off the internet reguarding resetting the service light . push this button, that button hold this for that long etc etc
could never work it out , then i tryed this turn ign on, set dash so it shows service due or over due, hold milage trip reset button till service reset shows , bingo:doh: , anyone else tryed this way ?

Exactly as it says in the service book ;)

Only reason i know is because mine was bleating at me the other day , so i looked it up ;)

there is a reason.it needs service.do not just reset

can anyone explain why after a service, immediately after picking up my 320cdi, it says 9720 or some such number to next service and not the 10,000.
thats straight from the MB car park

Perhaps the mechanic took it for a test drive after the service

I doubt it and if they did it would not be hundreds of miles!

I believe them.

Because the service computer adapts to your driving habits, if you hammer the car everywhere it'll probably end up at 8,000 for example.

you see, you should have recorded the mileage before you dropped it off. no one can tell now.maybe the person took it for a longer joyride.no other explanation.in a worst case scenario merc car counts 1 mile as 2 if you are too sporty

Useful thread this chaps thanks, whilst it wasn't something I was worried about, I had mine serviced in December, put maybe 4k on it up to April, then left the country for the desert for four months, friend of mine put less than a hundred on it in that time for it to 'tick over', returned from my holiday to have the service indicator tell me it was due a 'b' service, a mere 10 months and less than 7k miles after the previous 'a' service.

MB dealership (as one can imagine) had all kinds of 'reasons' why this could be, before asking me to book it in. Its now 140 days over and is going in next week when I tip 10k.

I win

Don't I?

If you going to a dealership,im not sure ;)

I didn't say where I was taking it...:p

but that said, if anyone knows of a good, recommended indy around the Boston / Lincoln area then I'm all ears
