Servicing Dilemma

Had my car serviced 5 months ago with an A service (one spanner on assyst) and today the indicator has come up with a service request in 1100 miles, but asking for an A service again. My miles are nearly all M/way or dual carriageway so I asked the garage what I should do, and was told they would do a B service regardless, so what point is service assyst if thet are going to ignore it. I was told they will do whatever service I tell them to do but it may affect my mobilo warranty. Car has done 152000 miles. Suggestions pls, also B service is twice the price of an A.

Since an A service seems to be mainly checks and an oil/filter change and B is much more comprehensive ( and thus expensive) You would be due a B service despite what ASSYST says. Probably reset wrongly after the last service?

I have this problem.

The trouble is that once the spanners are out of sync they stay that way. So if you have the B service done you will have a wrong indication for the next service etc etc.

After a lot of delaying tactics, my dealer manager eventually said I should ignore the A service indication, and after a while it would automatically flip to a B service which I should take, thus resynchronising ASSYST.

They also offered to perform, for free, a safety check (not involving any parts or fluid changes) when the A service falls due. I will then pay for the B service in the normal way when it becomes due.

This is what I intend doing but am a little concerned about running the car past it's next service interval on the same oil and filter, so may have those changed early. I am told that the oil is analysed by ASSYST and renewing it will extend the service interval. Some owners do his routinely, I believe.

Apparently, dealers are unable to over-ride the ASSYST indicator and reset it to match the service log.

I don't know how closely related the C and E class service schedules are, but on the C Class there are only A & B services. I'm guessing a bit, but maybe it's come up with an A again because it's only 5 months since it's last service? B items on C Class are mainly time related and have to be done very 2 yrs.
