Shell Fuelsave Diesel Problems

I have had a problem with my C270 smoking heavily and rpm hesitating / wavering when accelerating. I first noticed this last week just after I filled up with Shell Fuelsave.

I have since refilled with a different Diesel and the problems seem to be going away.

A quick search on Google threw up a number of other people who had experienced similar problems.

Has anyone on this site experienced problems with Fuelsave Diesel?

No, not personally although I use V-Power rather than Fuelsave, but I recall there have been several threads about this possible issue on MBClub too.

Did a search before I posted....not much in the way of discussion on Diesel Fuelsave though.....

We've used it in the Vito and our Audi without any problems at all.

I have used it before and did not note any problems...however, it is strange that problems started just after I filled up with Fuelsave and seem to be going away now that I have a different fuel on board.

I had huge clouds of black smoke behind me...it was embarrassing!

It was probably cleaning the engine out. I'm sure I read that the additive package for FuelSave is similar to VPower and it's supposed to shift some of the carbon deposits etc.

I use it regularily with No Problems, but I do seem to get better mpg.

I doubt that as I generally run V-power or equivalant....I never use supermarket fuel

I had problems with it in my E280cdi, it was pulling back when i tried overtaking. Only use V-Power now, although had to put Total in the other day as i was desperately low.

I think the fuelsave problem thread(s) were petrol not diesel related?

I always use Shell Fuelsave and can report no problems

My Volvo won't run on fuel save diesel absolute rubbish, kills performance and lowers mpg, used shell all my life and W208 running on V power petrol. Have e mailed shell regarding the problem twice and not received a thing now running on Total and all is fine.

There's a full Thread on it on here somewhere we had loads of discussions about GTL fuels additives etc.
