Shes Lost Power

:-(

That is no good.

I cannot recall but did it come with a warranty (for some reason I thought it was a private sale but then a dealer got involved somehow?)

yep - got confirmation that the extended MB warranty has been transfered!

so.... the car has been in with MB epsom since monday. what turned out to be a sonsor has now developed into new coil packs being needed. on top of that the ABC has an issue and news a strut replaced. they are waiting on the warranty confirming that they will pay out before ordering the parts. this was after them telling me they would give an answer in 48 hrs. what annoyed me is they could have askedx if i would pay if the warranty didnt cover it - now even if the warranty co confirm they will cover the costs (circa £3k) the parts wont arrive until next week. not a great start. the car has spent more time in garages than in my pocession!!

Welcome to the world of ABC V12 fun and games. We have to fix these awkward cars!

Even when the 65's were new they were a pain!

Wow... You have more patience than I.

That said, Ive never heard of a CL65 without issues. I dont know if that provides reassurance..

:(

as long as they soft it out i dont mind. in fairness the guy who sold it probably knew these issues were there which is annoying!!

Did it not come up in a pre-purchase inspection?

I am sucker for the uber-barges but given the tales of woe that I see you and Biturbo going through, and bearing in mind the complete and utter hiding that the previous owner of my n/a V12 took on maintenance, I am seriously considering sticking to the lesser W220's or the old bus that I have at present.

I do have to laugh though when, in my search for cars, I get rude and bordering on abusive responses from private and trade sellers when I ask about ABC or in the case of the n/a V12, the oil cooler leaks and am told that I have no idea what I am talking about.

No problem, let me know when they fail (as they WILL fail) and I can refer to you an excellent indie down Portsmouth way.

I hope this all gets sorted out for you.

ive been told that the warranty (extended MB) will get back to the garage tomorrow with an answer - i will hit the roof if they dont cover it!

Rest assured when it is all working, you will be laughing your head off at the performance.

Must be quite nice to be able to drive along in an old Merc CL (as the peasants would view it) and know that there would be only a handful of cars that could hope to pull away from a CL65 on full throttle!

Yeah, problems with V12,
The problem i had, have is its difficult getting people to work on a V12 s600 because even specialist dont have much experience of them.
The dealers its unreal touch your toes time.
I mean 1k for a coil pack, you seen what it is?
You can buy a brand new car for 7k
How is 1k justified? A coil pack for a ford is like £40.

Mercedes need to look at the parts costs on there troublesome motors.
Making obscene profits from problamatic components its bad for reputation.
I have a problem now with ABC, apparantly its only a valve thats gone, but merc wont sell just the valve they sell the whole unit. ££££
I had a turbo pack up, and thanks to muppets working on it i just keep getting new problems.
Thankfully its in the hands of ACID in birmingham now.

your in good hands with ACID if his service when sorting my pads and dics were anything to go by - he saved me quite a bit of money

Yeah, to be honest its the best place for my s600, over 150 miles away, But i guess thats what it takes.
Im thinking of selling it after, but then i think christ ive spent so much on all the problem areas that i probably have 60k trouble free motoring, and to be honest it is one absolutely amazing car when it works.
Nothing i have ever been in drives like it.
The Pace, the silence, the luxury leather, the smell, the gadgets (sound is brilliant) All for around 10-12k current prices, when it works and you get no problems there is no better car for the money. Trouble is when it goes wrong its a 100k car with 100k car part prices with merc adding VAT,

well summed up. suppose thats what draws us to these cars :wallbash:

The quality remains when the price is long forgotten .....

mercedes Epsom finally confimred that the warranaty will cover the new coil pack and rear suspension - this is after i had to hound them every day (after promises of calling back etc..) the guy was also talking a load of crap about the tier 1 warranty - he claimed that after 60,000 you could not get teir 1. the paperwork for the warranty transfer turned up and i am on tier 1 and not only that it claims that any car up to 100,000 can have tier 1. dont you love it when so called experts dont know what they are talking about. dont want to jinx the work as it has not been done but the guy ive been dealoing with has been more than useless. he is saying the coil pack is on back order and could be 15 days before it arrives !!

I'm so glad i got Olly to check out my CL.

So your Indy's original diagnosis was correct then?

It's a shame to have to give the work to the main dealer!

Hi GazM, what's the latest on the work done by Epsom? I useed them for servicing, just wondering what your experience was? Mel.

Hi Mel
The 2nd coil pack has been done. There is an issue with the brakes which needs to be sorted and when I pushed MB Epsom they said they would look at it when the car was next in. tbh I'm not sure if I would go back to them. They seem very busy and aren't good at getting back with updates - I found myself chasing them a lot.

What was your experience of them Mel?
Gareth
