Any ideas on how to get my steering wheel leather back to its original matt finish, as its all shiny now?

A weak mix of all purpose cleaner along with a soft clean cloth should do it. Wipe over the wiper stalk, cruise if you have it aswell and gearshift too... you get a build up of dead skin(grim) and make-up(usually women) on them over time. You can condition the leather wheel after aswell but test somewhere else first to make sure isn't slippery!

Surfex HD will sort that problem out. I wouldn't bother dressing the steering wheel as added conditioner mixed with consistant hand use will make it greasy pretty quickly.

^^ I wouldn't use Surfex HD on leather...that stuff a powerful degreaser ( even diluted ) and you'd risk staining it - I've got a whole van full of products and that certainly wouldn't go near the interior of my 55

As mentioned above - wipedown with general apc then apply a leather protector

Only "usually " women! Not always then?

Are you serious? At the right ratio its very good at removing grease and shine from a stearing wheel. Ive used it on stuburn grease on supercars since it was invented and too this day have never had a problem. I still have customers from 2 years ago that surfex hd was used on the steering wheels and still looks perfect.

^^ I see it as too an agressive product fot the job that's all.

I know Surfex is a very good product - It's in my armoury for engine bays and door jambs but for a steering wheel I use something with less strength & possibility to stain - I've not come across a steering wheel yet that won't come up correct just by using an APC

Don't get me wrong I use Swissvax leather cleaner, milk & elephant fat on all my interior details. But if if sections are really bad then surfex at a weak ratio works a treat. But in the whole time I have used it for certain areas I have never had a problem with it.
