OK guys the handbook says ET37 for my w202 whose got what ET fitted and is their a concensus on fitting ET42 to my car. Does a higher et number move the tyre near the outside of the car or nearer the centre of the car?
the offset of the wheel is largely meaningless unless you also know the width of the wheel.

but a higher e pushes the wheel out more?

Caveat Emptor

Having won the auction for Excellent Tyres 7mm and Excellent Shiny wheels for £220 (couldnt do a deal) tonight i went to pick them up!

Good News

Tyres werent 205,55R16 they were 205,55 ZR16s ie rated to plus 150mph and about £130 each.
tyres had 7mm as claimed, like new.

Contra to all the doubters in the poll, the wheels looked good next to my 15in ones and filled the arch better.

BUT
Bad News

"Excellent wheels" had water under the lacquer causing the usual white rash.

The "excellent" and expensive tyres had had a puncture repaired!

We discussed the condition and the seller has agreed a refund coz they werent as advertised! :) :(

I was just looking for somewhere convenient to dump another "artist's impression" of R2D2's car with some different rims on :)

These are "Cygnus" rims off the w209 CLK, 17".
