Hello.

Mercedes dealers want £400 for 2 front shock absorbers including top mounts.

The listing below is on Ebay for 2 for £200. Though no top mounts are evident.

That aside, would you think its a no brainer for the cheaper Bilstein shocks?

Thanks..

Check they come with all the kit, but B4 Bilsteins are fine shock absorbers.

Hi

They come with all the washers and rubber stop as well as new nuts.

I have just bought 2 Sachs shock absorbers for my R107. £50 each delivered. Sachs are part of ZF / Lemforder group. A big saving on the prices you have.

I am also doing front subframe bushes. £31 for complete kit with bushes and bolts etc. febi bilstein. From Micks Garage.. See on eBay. Compared to over £200 from Mercedes. Appears to be good quality, made in Germany.

Yes, I fancy Bilsteins. The Sachs are a great price... but they dont fit my 107, according to the car checker. I need to scout around...

The Sachs will fit. They fit all models from 71-89.

SL shop show their bilstein shocks to fit all from 71-89 as well.

The 26 year old bilsteins on my G reg 300SL r107 were fine when I changed them. No leaks and a smooth stroke up and down out of the car. I had the new ones anyway so fitted them. A testament to the overengineering of the car that they held out.

Ride is smoother but that is probably a combination of the new subframe bushes as well.

Its the top mount on the near side that has failed. Sachs sound good to me, its only for a few hundred miles a year.
