In a recent J.D.Power survey, unbelievably, Mercedes dealers came 4th (!!??) ahead of Honda dealers as best service in UK! (what must the bottom (Chevrolet) performing dealers be like!)

Maybe even more shocking was the number one.... Jaguar!

Jaguar dealers voted best in JD Power survey

wasn't that just when buying a new car.

Nothing to do with sorting problems.

as a typical Merc purchase price is higher than a honda price, then I would be more pleased also when taking delivery of my more expensive - top end branded car.

However, you could also argue that in paying a higher price, MB owners could be expected to be more discerning/demanding than Honda owners, so would be more harsh in their assessment of the dealership.

Anyway, I'm pleased to see MB placed higher than Škoda, which reflects my own experience but goes against the received wisdom.

It could also be argued the majority of Honda purchases are paid for by the new owners own money rather than company finance which I would wager is the main path to Jaguar,Audi,BMW, Lexus "Ownership";)

Fair enough, but would that necessarily skew the customer's assessment of the service received? I suppose what I'm saying is that perhaps Honda customers are more easily pleased...

A high ranking for MB would accord absolutely with my experience. I accept, sadly, that others will have had a different experience.

I have always maintained that 'satisfaction' surveys measure the relative satisfaction compared to customers' expectations.

This could be one reason why Škoda always fared well in them, for example.

But hats off to Lexus - you would imagine that Lexus buyers would expect good service.

Presumeably whoever is held responsible for such things at BMW UK is now looking for another job.

We've had a couple of Honda Jazz's and the current one is coming up to 3yrs old. Someone (seemed to be a marketing type company) called us on behalf of the dealer and asked if we'd be interested in replacing it with a new one. I said yes, if the deal was good. I was assured it would be and we agreed a day and time for a salesman (the one we've always dealt with) to call.

So Mrs R starts looking at the latest colours etc and we wait for the call. That was a couple of weeks ago and we're still waiting.

The other thing about these surveys... is that they are ranked rather than graded.

So while marque x may be no 1 and marque y may be no 5, both may be well above an acceptable standard. In other words, you will be better-treated if you bought a Lexsus, but you will still be very well treated if bought a Honda.... well in theory anyway :)
