Does anyone know or can they check the difference between the two following shock caps (the rubber bit that sits between the shock and the car body). Can someone look it up on the EPC? I dont fancy ringing the dealer as I get the feeling they will avoid the question totally saying they are not genuine shock absorbers  .

The part supplied with the lorinser shocks
202 326 00 68

The part number of the cap removed from my car
202 326 04 68

They are both different sizes (see photo) anyone any idea why other than the ones from my car have had a few years of service and it has flattened them  .
I dont want to fit the new shocks with the old caps unless I am sure they will be OK as I can see the new shocks will be a pain to get off (the old ones are bad enough :D )

thanks
Paul

I'd reuse the old ones, they are exactly the same it's the top washer that flattens them when you do the nuts up. After 8 years and 100,000 miles mine showed no wear.

The old ones seem to sit too far into the top of the new shocks and only the thin part of the cap would be supporting the shock not the bush part. There are obviously differant sizes available.
The thickness off the bush part on the new ones is 22mm where the old ones are only 14mm thick.
I will either have to get some of the correct part (the ebay seller doesn't have any  ) or get some other shocks :(
If I could only find out what car the new shock caps are for (then I could try and set some). I'm going to try the local rally/race centre to see if he has anything that will do :D
