Hii,
I drove about 2400 km in the holiday this year and towed a 1400 kg caravan (loaded) for the 2/3 of the trip. The temp was never below 34 degrees C and as high as 39. Some of the inclines were so killing that AT had to drop down to 1st gear. Thanks God first, and Merc (1991 w124 300d AT estate) second for having no problem at all. Infact I like very much the way merc tow.
To describe the conditions, I should say I gave a way the car's heating system for several times to help cooling. It was realy very useful when cooling fluid tried to go over 110 degrees (about 4-5 degrees sudden drop was observed and it heppened to be patient below 110).
My question is whether I should change the AT oil in the box for a possible drop in quality as the conditions were heavy? It is MB oil and made only 5000 km (including holiday) after the change.
Regards
