Hi all,
Sorry, if i double post this thread because when submitted the post first time the server stop responding. Therefore i re-send again.

I am no hopeless about car as you will find out when you finish reading this post.

I couldn't believed it when I reserved the car from my mate driveway (it was a slope) the kerb was too high and damaged the rear left outer sill (I think that's what it called) when it "drop-off" the kerb to the main road. Silly me !!!!

I needed help and advice please. The poor car is W203 C180K year 2002 and it's Jasper Blue (you know when you see the pics and forgive me for not washing the car before these pics were taken :o ). The dealer I got the car from was John R Weir Grangemouth in Scotland.

Pics attached to help my explanation.
Pic1 : view from the side.

Pic2: up close and personal :(

pic3: another up close and personal view

pic4 & 5 : next post as i can't attached more than 3 pics.

Questions:
1. What do you think, should I leave it or get it repair?

If repair :
2. Things to repair/replace?
a. is it the outer sill that i need?
b. new jacking point?
c. miscellaneous e.g. anything extra that i might need?
d. oh, yes parts number are greatly appreciated as I'm hopeless about car.

3. An attempt that can be carried out by novice like myself , dealer or independent MB garage? Will this be an issue of MB warranty if I get it fixed by an independed MB garage (if any if Glasgow or Edinburgh) or very unlikely myself (as I am rubbish) ?

4. How much you think it will cost me as at question 3? :(

Thanks for putting up with me so far. Any advice and help are greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Eric

Eric - the pictures are not "attached at all". You need to use the "Insert Image button" on the post and link them to the site that contains them.

You can go back and "Edit" your post and try again with the links in the right places.

On the question of repairs. I would take it back to your dealer and he will advise as to whom to take it too, as most dealers do not do their own bodywork anyway. But it does not look like the sort of repair you should tackle yourself on a car of this young age mate.

Good luck and don't worry we all make mistakes with our cars and regret them afterwards.

The sun is out, so I took a careful look at the extent of the damage.
Apparently the damage was on the jacking point and the outer sill (the plastic skirting). No damage on any of metal body (phew..no sure i would call it lucky or not  ).
Depending on the cost of the replacement, I think superglue will do for the plastic outer sill and a new replacement part for the jacking point (provided I can buy these parts) .
Anyone know about these parts number and cost??

Attached is the latest bits and pieces I salvaged from my mate driveway and from the car just now.

Hi all,
Anyone know the part number for the jack point and the pin/clip for the outer skin skirt (so it can clip itself to the sill) on W203? I couldn't find them on euro car parts.

Thanks in advance.
Eric

Thanks Guy.

Just a quick update.

Armed with info, went to the garage and asked them to order these parts for me. I even asked their engineer to look at the damage themselves just to make sure i haven't missed out anything that is important.

Few days later, received a call from garage asked me to drop in for the parts. Got there and speak to the part manager nicely :) whether they can help me to put them up for me as i don't have a ramp. Well, no problem sir.
Took about 5-10 minutes, came back and is done.

I asked him how much i need to pay for everything and he said nothing! :bannana: He said the parts cost only about £3.00 ish and don't bother to bill me as he remembered I bought the car from them new.

They even helped me to repair my tyre FOC when i told them i have a puncture few months after i got the car.

All in all, very impressed and satisfied with their customer service.
By the way, it's John R Weir @ Grangemouth. Well done to them.

Sorry for the long pos :o and would like to share the experience with the members.

Eric

They sound like a nice place to do business with. Keep on the good side of them. ;)
