Was in Southampton earlier today, following an SL500 (R129). Dark blue metallic with tan leather, hood down, just the job for a nice sunny day :).

We stop at a set of lights, R129 driver pulls up at the front of the queue next to a 500SL (R230) waiting in the left hand lane. Coincidentally, dark blue metallic with tan leather, hood down. Hmm. Just the job for a nice sunny day :). Drivers admire each others cars.

As the traffic streams out of the side turning, what turns across the front of us but another R129. Dark blue metallic, tan leather, hood down. Just the job for a nice sunny day :). Bloke driving it nods across at the two SLs in front of me, nice choice lads.

I think the motto of the story is don't buy a dark blue metallic SL with tan leather if you live in Southampton. They're as common as white Transit vans...:D.

Cheers,

Gaz

I used to get accused of driving around Southampton with some dolly bird in the car, when I had my silver one, when I never go there

I wonder if one of them was me ... ??
Where abouts Gaz?

I was surprised how many R129s I've seen down here.

As for Southampton .. it's not THAT bad!

Not so many these days, I had a 22ft long white Chrysler imperial convertible back in the 60s, and that use to fill up with them where ever it was parked, I had 6 one day and they refused to get out until I took them for a ride

Before you bring it down. Soak the couplings that attach the fluid supply pipes to the struts with penertrating fluid.

They can be very difficult to undo because they get covered in road dirt. ( it is very much like an airline coupling)

Yes I will do that, thank you

But we do get to drive around with dolly birds in our convertibles, courtesy of our tropical climate ;)

Arghh I just replied to someone from Pompey!

LOL:devil:
