I removed my electric ariel today to try and fix but the pcb burnt and motor siezed,i purchased a beru " replacement" to find that totally different,i have been in touch with main dealer and they inform me that there were 2 types fitted to this vehicle a hirshman [ which this is ] and an after market type which has different fittings, the mention of an ariel which passes through rear qquarter panel through a rubber grommet.
Mine has a shaped hole in quarter panel and has a plastic fitting on the outside of panel which looks different to the ones advertised on e bay
i wonder if there is anyone on this club whom may be able to steer my in the right direction of a replacement
regards Richard

Have a word with this seller. I bought a replacement mast from him for my my E280T last year. He is very helpful and knowledgeable, but I will add that the mast is sticking already, though!

I have emailed this guy thanks, but there is a mantion of ariel passing though a rubber grommet,?? mine passes through quarter panel and is held on by a chrome nut.which tightens on to a large plastic fitting
this is the factory ariel as the quarter panel has not been modified.

a replacement universal Hirchmann Auta ariel will come with the fitting you describe - a screw on nut. I have this on some of my cars (I think the black version works well)...

However I do actually prefer the Beru aerial. The fitting is a lot better... you get a whole back of plastic fittings which fit a lot better and no chance of water leakage.

hirschmann aerial

I bought and fiited one of these aerials from this supplier. He sells the rubber grommet that goes through the rear wing seperately.
It replaced a cheap aftermarket alternative that had burnt out. The aerial is mounted and secured inside the car and is pushed through the grommet. There is no external nut to hold it in place. I was under the impression this was the original factory fitment.
