SL320 Cylinder 5+6 Misfire

Raj, I feel for you man. You sit'n reads similar to KLP's recent experience.

I'm no mechanic, but any loose moving objects in the engine is not really reassuring and probably not good for the engine.

Doubtful if the seals have got into the cylinders. maybe you just need to remove the inlet manifold, that shouldnt take 15 hours. It sounds as if you removed both fuel rails??

Stats,
These guys are independents and MB mechanincs, they are based here in cov and i do trust them as i have been using them for years now... but sometimes it dont rain it pours and its crtainly pouring at the moment.
I was there when they removed the injectors and there was no way that it could have been any different or any way it could have been prevented. As you have to pry the rail off and the injectors out after 65k on the clock its not going to be easy.
I just hope that it can be rectified and fixed without more damage or futher holdbacks.... but this still may not be the problem thats the worst bit about it!!!!!

Grober yes the rail is removed as we were going to swap the injector from 6 to 1 to see if it moves the misfire, hopfully the seals are in the inlet manifold and havent gone further otherwise the head will need to be removed, i think the 15hrs was in total from cats to head.....

Vips thanks for your concern appreciate it mate...
the thing with klp is he has another car to use, i have to beg for lifts which is a pain.....

thanks guys

You know how busy craig gets and me being a mate sort of get pushed to the back sometimes so i have to give him a little nudge with new ideas to get him back on the ball again....lol. No wonder hes loosing his hair, if i was him i would be bald by now !!!!

Right just got update.... got the seals out!!!! by removing the inlet manifold.... no need to take of the head phewww. they have checked and apparently they will take the rocke covers off and the sprigs go and cause misfires on the v6 aswell, so fingers crossed they will find the culprit,

Raj

Ok wasnt the springs they are all ok, looking at the injector now, have ordered new injector at £90 its not cheap is it!!!!!

It was the fuel all along, there is sludge in theres which blocked the cat and caused the misfire!!!!!! lesson learned DONT USE BP!!!!!
