If anyone can help. I need a roof control module for 1997 SL320 part no.1298203126

Havent tried to get it repaired for the following reason. Currently the roof and roll bar are not working but windows are working fine. Spoke to BBA Reman today. They said if they attempt to repair the unit and it is not repairable when sent back to me there is a risk that the windows may not work.
Therefore I will consider buying a faulty or working module. If faulty can send it to BBA Reman

Take a look at this also. Wouldn't advise doing what the guy does as he is deliberately causing a fault by heating the chip circuits !!!!!!!!! in fact the very opposite can be useful --- if a component is overheating function can sometimes be restored momentarily by use of a freezing mix to cool the inner circuits in a chip. Anyway the video gives an idea of the innards if you are handy with a soldering iron. Lot of people find that the diodes and electrolytic capacitors mentioned go. Diodes can be checked with a cheap DVM/ diode tester and bad electrolytics can often be detected because the top of the cylindrical "can" bulges up when it should be flat.

Bba just repaired one for one of my customers, £520!!!! Which I think is a hell of a lot , looking at it though it look to be brand new bar the alloy case so I guess they replace the board complete instead of repairing.

There's also Tony Leach who has a small business repairing mainly Merc control modules. It would be worthwhile asking his opinion as he is well known amongst the M-B-Owners-Club for fixing these units.

I ordered a reconditioned control module from Autoteck Electronics in Bournmouth. It arrived today. Unfortunately the roof/roll bar are both still not working after fitting the new control unit. Ive set the windows and tried to reset the roll bar by holding the switch in up and down position for 15 seconds. This hasnt made any difference.
After starting the car i can hear the chime and a bleep. The roof switch and roll bar switch are both permanantly lit.
Can anyone advise what i can try next.
