Well done Ian. I only read one of your other SL60 threads the other day, both with interest and chuckling through Stats' comical run ins with others.

I personally think you have done very well. The car looks great. For the money, what a buy. I'm not really a R129 fan. I think the early cars now look very very dated, particulalry the interior and I don't mean a classic look, just plane dated. The late facelifted cars just about manage it for me. Your example I think looks fanatastic exterior wise and the all black interior also really works for me, not looking dated and without looking like it is trying too hard (and failing IMO) like a Silver Arrow.

I gave someone a lift in my R129 (also silver with black interior) the other night, and he couldn't believe it was 10 years old. The only dated thing for me is the swinging needle MPG gauge!

I like that...and missed it on the cars without it.....reminds you you much juice your using when in Mr Toad mode!!

When you drive like that you can watch the fuel gauge falling instead

It's interesting to see how good the consumption is when cruising on the motorway, nudging 30 mpg on the flat (bit less with the roof down).

With lots of motorway I've had 29 point something MPG from a tank, based on litres added and miles run. That's assuming the odometer is accurate, of course!

Agreed.....even better than I thought......the other wheels were too "clumpy", a bit like Darcy Bussel dancing with Doc Martins!!!!

I thnk if you're going to go with wheels like that you'll need to add the SLK door mirrors and oval side repeaters. You have the '99 facelift rear lights anyway .
