slk 2000 auto

i have a 2001 slk 2000 auto and at the moment i am unable to change from the park position even though i am pressing the brake pedal and the brake lights are coming on also i can get it to come ouy of park by activating the park overide below the gear change can anybodygive me any help

Sounds like stop Lamp switch, switch can still be faulty even though lights work
