Hi Folks,
Have just taken possession of a 1999 Auto SLK 230K ( R170) with 54K warranted. The car has come straight out of a main dealer showroom as one of their p/ex`s and they are warranting the mileage as genuine.
All is ok apart from the fact that there is a little "thump" when initially pulling off and then when stopping.
I am presuming that its the gearbox, however my question is that are they known to be troublesome and is it an expensive fix.
Other than that the car drives fine with no issues. Have seen that a gearbox fluid change may solve it but does anyone have any knowledge of this?
Or am I better off just throwing the car into auction?
