Hi all, I've just bought (today, not yet collected) an SLK with AMG bumpers and headlamp washers. When I tried to get them working, they wouldn't, with the main beam lights on of course! I checked behind the flap and the mechanism is there so they're not blanking plates. Does anyone have any experience of what the problem may be? Or is there are separate switch, something I'm doing wrong? Any help greatly appreciated. John

With mine it turned out to simply be the pump. water pressure pushesthe jets out. pump is on the bottom of the washer bottle. Pull it off and verify it spins up on the bench. I used a 12v battery charger to power it up and check. replacement was simple. And I guess, use them or they seize...

Thanks a lot Elite, sounds like the answer to me.

No problem. On a proper computer now so I can actually type.
Pop of the left front wheel, and pop the poppers and bolts off the lower wheel arch liner. The headlamp washer is the one with the fat high-pressure pipe on it (you can check you don't have the screen washer, by disconnecting the plug on the one you think is the screenwash, and check you unplugged it by finding it doesn't squirt once unplugged.

There is a plastic clip you have to lever off to get the headlamp washer hose off. Then the pump is simply a pressfit in a grommet. You WILL lose the contents of the washer bottle when you pull it out though. Then, as I say, check it on a battery charger, and see if it spins. Mine was well seized, and even opening it up, I couldn't turn the spindle by hand.
Replacements are available on eBay, but they typically seem to be £40+
