SLK Boot won't close properly

Hey Everyone,

I hope I am putting this in the right area!

I convinced my mum to buy a white '98 SLK230 the other month (I have a white SL and love it!)

Annoyingly, she has had a few minor issues with it (nothing too major though) but now her boot wont close properly. Her interior light stays on and she can't put the roof down as the car says the boot isn't closed (even though it seems to be). Apparently, she has to slam it about 5 times for it to close...

Does anyone had any ideas how to fix this before she decideds to sell it!?

Thanks in advance for your help,

David

It probably needs some adjustment thats all. Have a look at the catch.

Thank you for the speedy reply!

Any advice on how to adjust it? I would have no idea!

Thanks again,

David

Loosen the two bolts A and B realign the square “ring” slightly to where you think the lock slot will hit the “ring” when boot is shut, always retighten the two bolts before you slam boot to test.

Repeat until you are happy with result, its all trial and error.

Picture is of a W202, yours should be similar.
