SLK R171 door check strap

My passenger door check strap has gotten amazingly clunky and stiff to open. I've heard some horror stories about them snapping and punching through the door card ! How tricky is it to get the door card off ?, I'm fairly competant and can easily dismantle Jap stuff but European cars tend to be a lot trickier !

Well, apparently these don't have internal check straps are are contained within the lower hinge

Which, if anyone is interested, is only £33.50 plus vat from MB and apparently quite easy to replace.

Cheap and easy to fix ...you got something wrong there .Are you sure it's for a Mercedes ?!!
