Hi
Bit of help please.
New user of the above and a question of shifting.
When driving in comfort, I find that on touching the wheel paddles, the transmission will automatically go in the manual mode and operate on the paddles.
Possibly me doing something wrong, the owners manual appears a bit vague on this subject.

Thanks

David

Paddles will always operate, no matter which mode one is in.

When you say "go in the manual mode" does the M appear in the cluster?

My 04 E55 does the same. If you keep flicking the paddle up it will go back into Comfort when it reaches top gear if your SLK is anything like mine.

Actually reading your post again, you can be in comfort or sport and the paddles can be used to shift up or down at any time. You don't have to be in manual.

Indeed as AMGeed mentions, the paddles can be used to shift up or down but what one is actually doing is to change or limit the automatic shift range. If you flick a paddle and the C disappears and you see 3 displayed that simply means the autobox will only shift between 1, 2 and 3. Keep flicking the up paddle and eventually you enable the full range and C reappears

I have the paddles but I have never used them by mistake, just what are you doing when you touch them,I tend to hold the steering wheel differently to use them as I have small hands for a man.

I only have the shift buttons on my steering wheel and have accidentally caught them when turning. Can be quite exciting when the car drops a gear or two and one leaves the roundabout slightly sideways, riding a huge wave of torque

Many thanks guys for your help
