Photographers have caught the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster undergoing cold weather testing in Northern Europe.
Virtually identical to the coupe, the Roadster will loose its trademark gullwing doors and fixed roof. Despite this, Mercedes will add numerous chassis reinforcements to ensure the sporty handling remains intact.
Power will be provided by a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter (6,208cc) V8 engine that produces 420 kW (571 hp) and 650 Nm of torque. While it will weigh slightly more than the coupe (due to the aforementioned chassis reinforcements), the Roadster should be able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in approximately four seconds, before hitting a top speed somewhere in the neighborhood of 309 km/h (192 mph).
Look for the SLS AMG Roadster to be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010.
