All advice welcome.

My other half needs to find a small (circa 12 inch screen) laptop with a built in DVD player. She is a self employed trainer and needs to be able to show DVD's as part of her training. Larger laptops are just too bulky as she also has to carry training materials, speakers, projector, video camera, tripod etc so low weight is vital.

The general trend seems to be for ultra thin notebooks without DVD drives.

A built-in DVD drive is the first thing to go when you want to save size & weight.

Well, I obviously can't say that no such machine is available, I didn't think it necessary to add that she will probably have to accept that it's necessary to carry a portable external drive.

So the point of your last two posts on this topic are what? I already stated that the trend seems to be towards producing thinner laptops / notebooks without DVD drives and was trying to establish if anyone knew of a model that fitted our requirements.

Would it be easier/cheaper to transfer DVDs in question onto an SD card or USB flash drive? Other than that, the previous model of MacBookPro13 had a built-it DVD drive. Can still be bought either from Apple (refurb) or places like PC World, eBuyer, Amazon and other online retailers.

Thanks for the advice.Unfortunately a lot of the material on DVD is protected, we have tried copying it but it will then not run.
