Peeps, the worst has happened, I've now got a snapped glow plug in my cylinder head. Its all still in there just the nut collar is spining. Any special tools to remove it without taking the head off?? Appreciate your help.

Cheers

Barny.

There is a special kit to drill these out,a good indie should have one.If your handy yourself have a look on YOU TUBE under CDI Glow plugs, shows the kit in use from start to finish might give you some ideas.Just out of interest, because i have one gone, did you get the engine nice and hot before trying to remove the plug.

Friend had this years ago on a vaux corsa i told him to tie a blanket on top of the engine ( so as not to dent bonnet) and keep driving it until plug blows out, took over a week iirc:D , he had the tools with him and stuck the new one in at the side if the road.

The CDi ones shear off differently and leave the thread in the hole so won't blow out.

Thanks for you replies. Yes I did get the engine hot before trying to remove the plug, but I think its been there for a long time (166K). After looking at utube, I might try making my own tool. watch this space..........
