Snow in the news

Have you seen the bloke in the black jacket walking from centre screen to the left as you look I bet he is well fed up by now. Another dusting here this morning. Bl00DY Snow

Has anyone noticed that in most of the clips on the news that there is always a 4x4 that is in trouble or being pulled out along with a 2 wheel drive car.

Why is that?

1. Are they rubbish.

2. Do the drivers have misguided faith in their car.

3. Do the drivers need to learn to drive?

Last night we had the Mountain rescue in a Landie pulling out a Land Rover!
Also a blue Land Rover in the back ground of a clip last night going nowhere.
Onbe slipped down into the canal in Yorkshire.

Why show a 4x4 stuck? Because it makes better news! Better to show one 4x4 stuck than to show one of two dozen stuck 2WD drive cars

Tractors: tyres are for the mud I guess, but they're still not snow tyres ;).

Absolutely right I bet. It is part of the scare-mongering that goes on in the British press whatever the story of the day.

Showing the 4x4 will scare people into thinking the 4x4s are getting stuck now so it must be getting worse.

It's the same as the stories about grit having run out in Scotland. The reported on the TV was stood in an empty grit store with her tales of what horrors awaited those who ventured out on the roads now. Then about 4 hours later a much quieter story saying they had new supplies. Because the reported in the morning wouldn't have know that would she!

One story showed a BP tanker stuck in ice and I got the impression it was meant to panic us that fuel might not be getting through now. They didn't tell you where it was (it could have been the highlands of Scotland) and it was a single tanker. This shoddy reporting has to stop, and people have to stop being so gullible to believe it.

It always reminds me of Drop the Dead Donky on Channel 4 years ago.

I have to say i had land rover discoveries for nearly 10 years (well over100k miles) and never ever ever got stuck on and off road (std road and a/t tyres) and down here in Kent theres plenty of cars abandoned everywhere but no 4x4 stuck anywhere that i have seen even softroaders, plenty of mercs and bmws though!

I geniunley thought a few times this last week or so how far have i got to walk home today? pos!

Found the cure today i bought a 1962 landrover series 2:D

A bloke on another forum found it abandoned whilst green laning a couple of days ago.

My own attempt at riding in the snow was short lived. Its bloody hard work on such a heavy beast.

Stuck 4X4

Could it also be that some inexperienced drivers are far too confident driving in the snow because they feel that their 4x4's will get them through anything and hence take more risks than drivers with front or rear wheel drive cars?
