So what sort of bikes did I just run with?

LOL

Sorry but with the greatest of respect and all that they are having a giraffe. :D

Try posting those claims on the aforementioned forum and you will quickly find yourselfshot down in flames with hard facts and figures to prove that you'd be the first to push a standard blackbird much past 170.

The article also claims that a standard busa will do more than 200mph.... in reality, your looking at 185 with a strong engine and a small rider - most barely hit 180.

Both will indicate silly speeds (I've seen 210mph on my speedo) but speedo readings mean nothing at high speeds.

Hi Spike,

Yes I know speedos can be inaccurate at high speeds, but for most of us thats what we have to go on to measure speed.
This site below makes interesting reading. Showing the difference in top speed test, in different Bike mags.
Hayabusa has top speeds between 184.2mph and 200.2 mph

Hi Spike,
As you ride a Hayabusa thought you may find this interesting, and states the Blackbird is capable of 190mph

The Blackbird is still a fabulous machine, but the truth is that there isn't a single objective, credible magazine test which has ever measured a true top speed higher than about 170MPH for that particular bike. However, both the Hayabusa and the ZX12R have been consistently tested at 180-190MPH by nearly all the big-name publications.

Given that a stock Blackbird (with fuel injection) makes about 135 BHP at the wheel and yet weighs 227 kilos dry, whereas the other two make about 155 at their respective back wheels and weigh 215 and 210 kgs dry, it's clear why the Suzuki and the Kwakker are faster bikes. I mean, a real Hayabusa is actually a predatory Japanese bird which eats blackbirds, among it's other prey.........

The Blackbird is a well-made, comfortable and super-fast sports-tourer. Had they not been so heavy and had they not had linked brakes, I'd have probably bought one myself. However they're definitely not as quick or ultimately as fast as either a Hayabusa or a ZX12R. Not that it should bother you in any case......... :D
