Well I can tell you in the case the former Senior Destructive Tester for Rolls Royce Motor Cars.

I sold, on ebay, for a forum buddy. A 320 124 Estate. Quite leggy on miles and with some rust issues round the wings and a few other places too.

The buyer turned out to be both the prewar and postwar senior destructive tester for Rolls Royce Motor Cars. As you can guess he is now quite senior in years himself too now. A delight to communicate with and talk to on pick up of the car.

Should anyone be in need of any spares for Rolls Royce or Bentley Motor Cars then I have a telephone number for you. Apparently he has a few breakers tucked away in a barn somewhere. His daily trundle car has been a 124 Estate for years - I can think of no finer testament to the 124 Marque than this Gentleman's choice of chariot:thumb:

Thank you for this offer ..., - no doubt he'll have sources for w124 TE parts as well.

I bought my W124 cabriolet from a gentleman who was a consultant engineer for the aerospace industry, it had done 205k miles when I bought it and he'd had it for 13 years, lovely car in excellent condition.

Well thanks for passing the old car on to a good home John.

I have been travelling out of the country far too much recently so I did not have the time to sell it myself-its really nice that a forum member would go to that trouble.

let's hope the new owner is pleased.

so who does buy old 124s ?

Old men apparently;)
Our son had a 300e-24 when he was 20. Our daughter thought the 124 seriously uncool until she did the run to Italy with me in one day. She then appreciated its virtues compared to her BMW Mini.

I think Dash,Billy and Charles might have something to say about that though

Personally I resemble that remark.

Old and always on the road. Works for me.

Well there you have it.... W124!

ima' 83 kid.

Then theres Niks, Shakter...we all are babies. LOL

Dash, Trapper and Charles are our Godfather's! haha.

He's probably installing a big RR V8 engine into it as we speak !!!

I must be so old owning three of them and maybe a 4th one soon

To be honest i do rather like the w124 myself , but then again i am pushing 60 ;) , and in general prefer older , rather than new cars , ( including C63s which come with dodgy paintwork and minus the quadraphenia climate control for 60 grand  ).

Yes, you'd want a big estate if you where lugging bits of RRs home:devil:

Before the buyer picked the car up - Ian at 124 Works carried out a service for him and a bit of rear end fettling. This at the request of the buyer. In typical old school form he phoned Ian that night to tell him what a pleasant ride home he had had and was delighted with the car. And as to his age, well someone put him at around ninety. Lets just say he is very sprightly for his quite senior years.
