Hi

Can anyone tell me what the correct type of brush to use to clean a soft top on a car?

I am using the Mercedes soft top cleaning product, but I want to ensure that the brush that I use wont damage the material of the roof, but will be able to shift the green stuff that has formed as a result of being parked under a tree.

Thanks

Tan

I bought a brush at a local hardware shop - a soft scrubbing job.

I spoke to the people at Renovo who said to use their cleaner per instructions then scrub "as hard as you like" wetting the brush with water as hot as you can put your hand in - worked a treat and no ill effects on the weave of the hood

Another tip if you have dandelion seeds or 'fairies' stuck the roof is one of those little sticks from Matalan or Tesco (or IKEA) that have a roll of sticky stuff where you peel bits off as it gets clogged.
Only a quid or two but works a treat.

I hoovered mysoft top, gets off almost all of the rubbish. Not sure its strong enough to remover green stuff though...

Vacuuming the soft-top of my cab is the first stage before washing it. I read somewhere that you should brush the top from front to rear using plenty of warm water.

It is only when the top is dry should stage 3 be attempted and that is to water-proof the material. Protect the bodywork of the car by masking up before this stage.

The above is my method of keeping the top looking like new.
