In a post last year, Miro mentioned some mods. How do I get them done? Do I talk nicely to the MB mechanic (new customer who has not yet completed the questionnaire so they are keener to please than normal
Or is there anybody 'oop north who has access this this DAS?

This was part of his post (I have just included the ones I would like) I assume removal of UK restrictions means I can have the temp?

Here are some software upgrades which may be performed on an A or B

- fog lights come on with cornering / turn signal
- calendar date under odometer
- removal of UK restrictions
- AM / PM vs 24 hour
- litres / gallons in fuel tank

You need to find someone with a DAS and knows how to use it ....

Auto folding mirrors is also an option if you have the manual electric folding ones already.

You just need someone with a STAR (DAS) system or access to one!

Can anybody tell me if there is away to get this done (apart from a) persuading the MB dealer in the frist place and b) paying what I'm sure would be extortionate amouts of money!!)

Hi

The A/B class have clusters can only be configured by a Mercedes Dealer using a SCN code. The SCN code is generated by the Mercedes central database and is generated based on the datacard for the car. I.E as its a UK car the SCN code will *always* enforce UK mode (i.e the mode where you can't change the central km/h digital display to show temperature) and the options that the car has registered in the FDOK system.

MB can/will update the FDOK system if COMAND or other functions are retrofitted, and thus dealer can get a new SCN code, and have the navigation / menu enabled as appropriate.

Other cars (C/CLK etc) the dealer has a bit more they can turn on/off.

Some of the options (such as 12/24 hour clock, C/F temp, date display, Key dependance) can never be enabled with a SCN code as they are not options that MB make available anymore

Now, Star diagnosis has a 'factory' mode which can be used to enable/disable those features if (a) the dealer has this months password and (b) dealer can speak german to understand the factory menues (c) dealer is in the mood for experimenting. It is very hard for a dealer to get this months password - so its very unpredictable.

The fog light thing is configured somewhere else (EIS/CGW) and can often be turned on by any dealer willing to experiment - along with the tyre pressure loss warner (which is now standard I think, IMHO it should always have been instaed of a £40 option - as it is a safety feature)

So. my summary is that you have to find a very flexble dealer - most can not do this .

R
