Hi guys, well, it had to happen. :( My hubby is fuming.

Some pratt in a car park today must have opened their door hard on my door and it's made a 'paper crease' type dent in it. It's hardly noticeable and not terrible or anything but it's there and I know it's there - I don't suppose it'd even show particularly if I took a photo of it, but it's the principal of it.

Why do people have to be so careless. I do everything I can not to bash other peoples cars and woe betide my kids ever do!

Anyway, just had to vent to fellow minded MB owners because I know you guys'll know how gutted I feel.

Yes it happens all the time, but I will never park mine in one, they do let me park outside the main door when I have the SL, thats Tesco, if I could not I would only shop at night when its quiet. But visiting supermarkets in the greater london area are busy even at night

What i tend to do is park next to a half decent car, I'm sure they will take care of their door whilst opening it near my car ;)

Thats OK until that car leaves and you come back to a 1953 landrover parked along side or a builders truck with nice high doors that dent the upper half of your car

Never park next to a rusty van!

So long as the paint is not damaged a dent is fixable for about £50, i hate the idea of spraying panels,

Sorry to hear about your incident. I know how you feel 3 times over!
Yes,3 times a Mr or Mrs nobody hit my car and drove off leaving me to discover the damage on returning.
Thankfully there's a great MB approved repairer virtually on my doorstep whom the MB dealers in the area use so saved some money cutting out the middle man.
I'm convinced the third bump happened while in for a service but the garage denied it (their word against mine) but while waiting in reception (this came to me later, didn't think twice about it at the time) a guy said to the girl at reception "that red cars had a bit of a bump out there". I just assumed at the time,if it's mine I'm sure they'll let me know.
As you'd expect I haven't used this dealership again
Hope you get your car looking it's best again soon.
Cheers John.

Thanks guys. I'm cross because people are so careless (and jealous) and I have no concept of that kind of mentality.

I will most probably leave it and if I get any more then do something about it then. Like I said it's hardly noticeable - thank goodness - or I would have been having a complete fit over it.

Trouble is, I was saying to my husband, unless you park miles away from where you want to be there's no way of avoiding it. And even when you do like I did the other day, some pratt comes along and parks miles out of their way too for no apparent reason, butted right up next to you.

Unfortunately too, when you have two littluns parking miles from the store or high street can be a real pain - especially if it's raining....I guess it's something I will just have to get use to. It didn't matter on my old car, well it did, but I didn't feel so passionate about the old one.

Anyway, thanks for the sympathy. I really needed to vent last night

No they are not careless, they are just jealous. I posted a thread last week about this issue, park in an isolated spot and take a long walk. I avoid going to Tesco at peak time. I go after 6pm(better still 7pm) on a Sat when I know it quieter, most already home having their tea or supper.

Sorry to hear that jadefox :(

This is one of my worries every week as Mrs WN and I visit our local Tesco. All the time I am in the shop I am wondering who has parked next to me.

I always park as far from anyone as possible but even in a virtually empty car park, with my car parked in total isolation in the furthest corner I come back to find some numpty has parked right next to me. Even though there are spaces and spaces free all around!

Is it some weird "herding" instinct?...

Either way, despite my pleadings Mrs WN will not shop alone (or "on-line")and leave me to sit in the car. Mind you I was sat in our previous car when a elderly gent parked up next to me and slammed his door into mine!! As the car was tinted thoughout he had now idea I was inside, I certainly made him jump when I leaped out to confront him

His insurance paid out, no argument. Cost? £1500 and that was 6yrs ago!!

Yeah exactly - people are like sheep!:mad::mad:

And OMG - £1500??!! I hope to goodness no one ever does that to me because I would be so fuming I would not be responsible for my actions!!

Who charges £50 to remove dents then? I have no experience in these things!! If it cost me that little I may consider doing it!

Dent removal can work well. I had a Volvo, where the village idiots had got bored and walked over the roof, kinking it. Cost me about £60 to get it pushed out and looked perfect.
