All I went to do is get some bread from the local shop.

As I was getting out of my car some pr**k who did not know I parked in the parking bay behind him decided to reverse his cr*p into the front of my car.

He damaged my front number plate, grill and pushed the geadlights in.
I then asked him W T F man. All he could say was sorry.

He then said I will call my manager or something like that.

Before I knew it he got in his car and chipped.

Oh My GOD help me. My guess he does not even have insurance.

Did you know that the insurance is going up again coz there are up to a million uninsured drivers on the round and we have to pay for them.

If this ever happens to anyone don't take any cr*p from anyone just get hold of their car keys, so they dont chip.

The police dont wanna know coz no one was hurt. All they said was come into the station.

Will post some pics of the front of my CE. I'm Gutted

You didn't get his reg number? If not the you're knackered unless you can get CCTV from the local shops maybe?

Not a police consideration as you weren't hurt, but he did leave the scene of an accident.

But, no reg number = nothing can be done.

Very sorry to hear your tale , pity you didn't get a reg. no.

Perhaps not the wisest thing to do , but I'd have jumped back in my car and been after him .....

The problem was that my wife had gone to the shop to get the bread and my son was in the car. Before I relised the bloke had chipped.

Its just my hard luck. But never will I trust anyone else who hits into my car.

Luckily the damage was not that bad as the centre strip of the grill is damaged, the headlight are pushed slighty back and the number plate has a minor crack.

See the pic below:

Next time I'm going to take the keys of driver, no matter what.

the first time anyone (unless he's wearing a uniform) attempts to take my car keys off me would very probably be the last thing that person did that day :)

I wouldn't advise that paticular course of action unless you are entirely sure you are prepared for any consequenses.

Getting a note of the registration number takes only a second or two - from the sound of it you had plenty of time to remember even part of it

It might be less effort to take the number!!!! If you have a terrible memory simply write it on the dust of your car. (I am NOT being sarcastic, dark coloured cars are a devil to keep clean)

Does the car park have CCTV?

Why aren't the Police interested? This driver has failed to stop. I see your post has been edited, but hopefully you were polite when you contacted the Police to report this 'Hit and run?'

Good luck in locating the offending driver, but remember.... The only thing damaged is your car. Boys that mouth off, seldom impress men.

John

I gave the police the make and model detail and description of the bloke and which way he was heading. Then they asked me to come in the station to make a report.

This is a big lesson for me to learn as I trusted the bloke but he chipped.

Good idea about putting the number on the car body. I think the reason Why I forget the last 3 digits coz I was freaking out.

Well Its totally my fault and I'm going have to fix it myself by the looks of it. New strip about £10 , new number plate £10 and hopefully I can line the headlights up again.

Just like to warn others BEWARE

Unfortunatly no CCTV as the shops advised me they are not alowed have camers pointing torwards public grounds. Is this true?

Anyway I think this guy is a local guy and I'm going to keep a look out for him.

If you are 100% positive about make and part registration, then go to the Police they might be able to locate the vehicle from the numbers you have. Its a pity you never had the last three letters, then we could have logged onto the RAC site and attempted to locate it.

John I'm 100% sure. I'm pulling my hair out about it. Its not worth me going through my insurance coz the excess will be more than the damage.

So hopefully £20 should do the job. But could have been a lot worse.

We can all understand your anger and if you had got the three letters i.e. N*** ABC then we could have gone onto the RAC site and simply kept trying different numbers until we come up with the right number for the make and colour vehicle.

Thank goodness it is only £20, but it is still £20 of your hard earned money.

John

Sorry to hear about your problem. Hope you get it sorted cheaply.

On a different note: as my mothertongue is German I had never heard the word 'chip' in this context meaning 'made off surrepticiously'. I even looked in the dictionary but no mention of it in the context you're using it. Is it some local slang? ;) :)

Regards
Karl

I'm English, and have never heard of 'chip' in that context before either!

I was run into the kerb by a bus once, it drifted over to the left on a 2 lane section of road ... grinding my nearside wheels against the kerb while the bus scraped along the outside, pulling the corner of the front bumper off as it went past. I stopped, and the bus - which was full of passengers - drove off! I was so gobsmacked that I didn't get the reg. either ... you live and learn.

If he's shopping at the local shop , chances are he's a local ....

Keep your beadies peeled and when you see the car again, return the favour a hundredfold .....

Thats what I would be inclined to do .....

Just my 0.02 pence .....

sorry chaps, if you have not heard of the word chip, its a slang word that I use which I learned back in the college days. The good old days.

Well I have nothing to loose except £20, but I might give John's Rac idea a go.

John

how do you locate a car's details using its plate number on the RAC site.
