BBC - Newsbeat - Son writes off his dad's £275,000 supercar

Just spotted that and was about to post it here too.

Hmmm, I wonder what speed he was doing? As you said, they both managed to walk away from it fine (until he got home to Dad!)...

That doesn't look badly damaged at all, it's designed to shed the front and rear sections to leave the centre section intact.

A friend of mine did something very similar to his Dads Saab 900 Turbo weeks after passing his test.
After that he had to use the BMW 635csi...

I would doubt very much a 20 year old would be alound on the insurance so that's probably not going to pay out anyway.

At least the smeg will live to fight another day

Any Dad should be glad that his son is still in one piece and walking. Sod the car.

Anybody that can afford to buy and run one of those is not going to be strapped for cash.

Having said that, it was probably the fact that it was such a well designed car that he did survive.
If he had been in a hot Saxo I bet he wouldn't have.

I was going to say the very same thing. If I was him I would go out and buy a lottery ticket!

A pot of David's Isopon, some fibre glass matting, a spray can from Halfords then the car will look as good as new.

I am off to the lakes tomorrow with my wife and two younger children but not the 17 year old. Not going in the AMG but funnily enough both sets of keys will be with me as will the ones for my wifes car.
