Have I told you that I recently bought a C32 AMG estate?! (Only about 5 times, now get on with it) Where the spare wheel should go there is nothing, nil, zilch, nowt! Very useful for hiding away a briefcase but shouldn't there be a spacesaver spare on these cars?

And does anybody know what the standard tyres should be? I think I read once that the original models wore Michelin Pilot Sports. At the moment it's got three Falkens and a Pirelli on the offside rear. :o

Ive got the feeling that the C32 doesnt come with a spare for some reason.

Yeah - weight reduction, probably !

Is there a can of "gunk" stuck somewhere conveniently behind one of the panels in the boot ?

A lot of performance cars come without spares these days - MG's, Vauxhall VX220's etc etc

A can of foam seems to be the order of the day.

Falkens on a C32? Oh dear! I hope it was a last minute cost saving exercise immediatly prior to selling - budget budget tyres like that have no place on such a performance car - hope it's not a sign of it's previous care.

seemingly its not illegal to not have a spare wheel

Its just illegal to have a defective one ..... go figure

I thought that; in fact I'd never heard of them but when I did a search on t'internet they cost about £120 a corner, hardly what I'd call "budget budget" but they are 25% cheaper than Michelin Pilot Sports! They look pretty new so I would think that they've been added just before sale.

That's one of the reasons I asked as I am thinking of changing them to Michelins, Pirellis (the easiest/cheapest option as there's one already) or the new Dunlops. I've seen other threads debating which are the best so I won't add any more.

Regarding the spacesaver wheel, yep there's a plastic bottle of something (in German) and a little air compressor tucked away in the spare wheel well so I guess that answers that one! I was gonna moan at the dealer for losing it...:o

However, should there be a little plastic basket or box that goes in the empty space where the spare wheel normally goes?

why not get runflats if youre going to change allt he tyres?

well , thats what i thought.

But , was watching 5th gear and tiff nedell did the thing where they burst the tyres on a 5 series with them and he was driving at 100mph with the flat tyres.

He said he didnt notice much diference with the runflats.

Maybe go for a testrun in a 5 series with them before splashing the cash

no spare

ive a w203 and that dont have a spare wheel ,instead it has a cannister with a puncture fix solution.just fill the tyre with the solution then inflate and away you go.a lot of models are starting to come through like this

I've heard that Tyre outfits don't like repairing tyres which have been filled with the solution . . . it leaves a rather nasty sticky residue inside, funnily enough, and you are probably looking at a new tyre rather than a potential repair if you ever have to use the cannister.

cannister

ive actually bought a spare wheel,i dont fancy driving around relying on the cannister, what happens if the tyre shreds ,knackered
