Spare key fob for w124

Tried doing a search on this but could not find what i was looking for.

My 'new' 94 W124 only came with one keyless fob. Really need to get a spare just in case! Could someone tell me what is the fastest way to get this done.

I guess i could just call into a mercedes dealership with my current fob...could they just do one up there and then.....is it way expensive.

is there another way ?

They were about £60 12 months ago when I ordered one. It took about 3 weeks to get the spare key.

I got one for my W203 and cost me 60 quid all in and took a wee to arrive..

Yes, sorry should have said, from the Dealer.

Check coding.

Make sure you get the dealer to code/check operation before you leave the premises. I bought 2 and neither worked until they were coded.

W124 key £60? you are having a laugh. £11 from my local dealer. But make sure you take your passport, V5 and a utillitie bill. An ignition barrel and key costs £88. Took 2 working days to arrive from Germany.

Quotes are high for getting a spare key fob. 120euros + VAT of 21%. Was even quoted 180 + VAT.

What does anyone think about these things being offered in ebay in germany. Is it that you code the things yourself ?
