Yes, but keep in mind that it's just an extension lead (not an actual sensor) that protects the main wiring loom from getting soaked in oil from a leaking camshaft position sensor. It's good to have as extra protection, but obviously you will still need to check if the sensors are leaking, and fix the problem if they are....These sensors. Found at decent price.
Putting the best oil in is wise, but if you have read up on the cam chain issue on this engine you will have seen cars with full MB service history have still suffered cam chain/sprocket failure. The issue was not cheap oil and missed services - although neither helps - the issue was poor quality parts from the factory.Once ive got to the bottom of the oil leak, looking at Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 or mobil super 3000 x1 5w40 oil wise. Prob best to use a decent one, after reading about the chain. So decent oil is a must.
Jackson 7715, I have to say I have a 2004 C180k with the same engine and have not had any of the above problems so please don't assume that you will have these problems with your car, I've really enjoyed owning and driving mine, now on 203K, it's reasonably economical (depends on how heavy my boot is) and quick. I would recommend regular service and oil changes, ATF & filter change if an auto and use good quality parts. MB Newcastle on Ebay are a good source. Enjoy it...
Hello Mr. Markjay, first let me thank you for al the knowledge you have give us. I have a 2003 MB m271.946 c180 petrol saloon, and made now 100.000km and the manual says to change the AT oil, I have bought this Motul ATF 236.14 in the label says that serves for 5g speed and 7g speed, but when I go to ChatGPT says I cannot use this oil because is harmful to the gearbox etc that I should use 236.9 or 236.10, I already bought the oil 236.14 Motul, can you please adevise me?The M271 engines needs oil that meets MB Spec Sheet 229.3 as minimum. The latest MB Spec Sheet 229.5 will also be OK. The oil certification is printed on the oil container.
Avoid oil meeting other MB Spec Sheet numbere because these were not designed for your engine.
Many on here chose to buy MB-branded oil on eBay, it isn't necessarily better than other oils but it's good quality, does the job, and carries the right MB-Spec. If doing so, then make sure you buy the oil from a reputable seller, because there have been cases where counterfeit oil was sold on eBay. MB-barnded oil is supposedly made by Petronas.
Alternatively you could buy oil from Opie Oils, or from Euro Car Parts if you have the right discount code.
While any oil that meets
MB Spec Sheet 229.3 or 229.5 will do, certain brands are considered as leading oils, among which are Shell Helix Ultra, Mobil 1, and Fuchs Titan.

Hi, thanks for the advice I started already, I was just a bit anxious and didn’t read the instructions, sorry for that. Bought the oil from local part reseller the have ask me for my vin number etcWelcome to the forum.
It is always best to start a new thread rather than add to one, especially as this thread is 6 years old.
Be wary of ChatGTP, it's accuracy isn't always good. Where did you buy the ATF from?
One correct answer doesn't equal accuracy. Thanks, it’s because of this accuracy I’m here. Thanks for the advice
