Hi guys,

Installed my Pioneer headunit today, and has made a massive difference to the sound quality already over the original blaupunkt cassette deck lol

Only problem is, the balance works fine left to right, but if I try and fade to the back I get no sound.

Should I assume that not all cars came fitted with rear speakers, neither in the back doors or parcel shelf?

The car is a 1996 W202 C180 elegance.

Thanks!

Jon

take a look under the parcel shelf and in the holes in the rear doors and see if you see anything.. in worst case it is 1 screw at the bottom on the panels on rear doors and you can take the panel of to see....

Best thing you can do now is ditch the front and rear speakers (the originals) as they are rubbish.

You will get a massive difference in sound quality once this is done :)

yes buy speaker adapter rings and a set of 6.5" speakers and put it in but it is nicer with rear speakers too

well I've had a quick look, and only speakers fitted are in the front. Bugger! Nothing in the back doors, and the back parcel shelf only has the headrest recesses and first aid kit.

Is it easy to fit some to the back doors? Or do I have to cut holes and fit wiring?

To be honest the back door speakers are a waste of time and do very little.

The better option would be to fit the rear speakers. You should be able to get a parcelshelf from a model which had speakers or cut your rear shelf for the speakers you buy.

it depends on the speakers too in mine i have in the back doors and it helps a lot on the sound picture 13 cm jbl :)

Hmm, don't really want to cut the shelf, might look a bit gash with holes in and speakers showing. A bit like when I had 6x9's on show when I was 17 lol!

Hmm, have to have a think now....

if you do not want to cut use the reardoors and a good 5.25"component set ;) works good enough for me..

Rear door speakers will make a big difference to the sound. Get the best you can and possibly change front ones aswell.

yep i changed mine fronts to jbl gto 6508c and placed the tweeters at top of the original location on the dashboard very clear nice sound with ok bass

So is everything already in the door to take speakers, or will I need to cut the door cards?

Cheers

take a pic of the door cards and let us have a look but if you got the covers on the doors for speakers it is probably plug&play worst case you have to wire the doors but it is a 15 min job... easy

Lars

No covers on the doors just plain door cards.

Will have to wire some in when I get the chance then :P

i would try to get a pair of used doorcards with holes for speaker to get a invisible install of the new speakers think you should have a look behind the doorcards too and see if if you must cut or if it is holes for speaker in the doors
