Speeding help...

.... (I had been doing 80 or so keeping ahead of a black Audi that was tailgating me for a while.)

...

Now I can not remember (honest) if it was me or my wife driving...

Steve,

If I was a prosecuting lawyer, I would point out that these two statements to contradict themselves...

Unless we're talking about two different journeys, which direction was the car going in and at what time of the day etc.

I have edited my post to read correctly :( ;)

Anyone know if the driver would qualify for a speed awareness course in this case?

I would also send myself down for posting a message without proof reading it.

I'm feeling bad enough as it is without the stick from you guys for my posting / lack of proof reading skills  I put it down to being in shock .... the last time I personally got done for speeding was in 1995! had a clean licence ever since .

Steve

afaik the availability of courses depends on the area that you are caught in. Now I do happen to know that the M55 being part of Lancs might just qualify for such a course. The area certainly did two years ago as a mate of mine got done in Blackpool;) Trouble is until you plead I don't think you get to know:(

My mate had to spend a lovely day driving around Bolton but it saved points on her license.

I must say a big thank you for the tip off though. They can be a bit naughty on those bridges can't they:mad: I'm over there on Monday so will keep my beady eye out;)

In Blackpool yes there is a course (FY post code) I am not sure is Preston does though (PR post code) It would also depend on where you were caught on the M55 as both post codes cover it.

Steve, I sent myself down for lack of proof reading, not you...all my original posting intended to point out was that you need to be careful when describing an incident like this, as an apparent contradiction in the facts can count against you. I hope it all works out, whichever of you end up taking the rap for it. :o

Do you really want to know who was driving? Can you ask to see the pictures in case they show who the driver was.

I take it you want to avoid getting the Company Secretary involved and I commend you for that, it would be intersting to see act 2, if you write stating that you can confirm that on the day in question both you and your wife were the only drivers of the motor vehicle. That would surely put the registered keeper out of the frame?

However you shared the driving and cannot say who was behind the wheel, you would be very grateful for any photographic evidence that might help you establish who the guilty party was?

John
