Speedtronic inoperative - intermittent

my 2007 C class CDi has developed an intermittent fault over the last few weeks. I tend to use the speed limit function regularly in speed restricted areas ( I know - boring!) but now occasionally it beeps and I get a message saying speedtronic inoperative and neither limiter nor cruise control will work. If I stop, turn the ignition off and then on again it works fine until the next time. This occurs about every week or so and is quite annoying. Anyone any ideas what could cause this? I do not know how this thing works so have no clue as to what is happening.

the problem is with your steering angle sensor probably .
Its a module behind the steering wheel.

I had the same with my CLS. Had to get a new one, with a price at about 300.

Before going too deeply into the problem such that it costs you money, I would check that the tyres are all the same / correct size and that they are at the correct pressures as any variation here will result in a change of rolling radius and make the ABS think the car is skidding, thereby knocking out the speed limiter / cruise control.

If these things are correct, get a check done on Star before you spend any money on repair costs.
