Spending Challenge

Just posted an idea on here to axe road tax and put the cost onto fuel.

Save 50% (??) of DVLA costs and taxation is related to mileage covered.

No non-paying scroats

Anyone agree? Post now!

Just submitted mine .......

My idea is to scrap the second home allowance for MPs and force them to commute to Parliament to their place or work.

Most people in the UK are forced to work in their home locale or make efforts to relocate in order to carry out their employment.

Why should MPs be exempt from this ?

If the answer to this question is that they are duty bound to represent their constituency then there should be Halls of Residency available where MPs can reside to relax and sleep with communal offices for secretarial funtions.

This way, Government gains the clarity it needs and the public purse gets a saving.

The man in the street can only fund so much. The trough needs to be emptied..................

I've got a better idea, "Road tax" so they should not be allowed to spend it on ANYTHING except roads.

i think they could incorporate insurance into fuel costs aswell, bigger engines use more fuel so would cost more.

The road haulage industry won't be too happy about this because they use a lot of fuel and cover lots of miles (and so do I!), and it would be cheaper just to pay a fixed sum for road tax.

However, if they just scrap the road tax completely, and don't increase the price of fuel at all, I'll be happy! :)

But we are already far too heavily taxed on fuel.

You want more? :dk:

The same scrotes you talk of will just steal more fuel either by doing drive offs or by knocking a nail through your fuel tank and draining your fuel off.

and... since tax is % based, you are at the mercy of wildly fluctuating oil prices - what seems a good idea now might not seem such a good plan at $200 / barrel
