Sports suspension on the CLK. Yes or No?

Hello everyone!

I am looking to buy a new CLK, most likely a 240 and was wondering if the sports suspension with 17" wheels is a good option to tick. I test drove one with 18" wheels and sports suspension but found the ride too compromised.

a CLK with 16" wheels looks WRONG ... body too big for the wheels. I think 17" wheels are a must

I meant I can get 17" wheels with or without sports suspension. I'm going for 17"ers anyway.

A friend of mine has got sports suspension on his CLK200k - he covers a lot of miles and still likes it and it doesn't seem too firm a ride to me (to be fair, compared to mine, it could have concrete springs and feel compliant!!).

Other thing to consider is that I personally find that people do tend to get used to a firmer ride over time, although if you don't intend to throw the car around a bit then maybe you don't actually need it?

Back from the test drive now and we decided to just go for the 17" upgrade without the sports suspension. Thanks for the input. We don't intend to throw the car around.

I've got the 18inch AMG wheels and the sports suspension on a CLK. Its a firm ride, but I didn't think it was that bad. I upgraded from 16 inch wheels - absolutely massive improvement in looks !

My CLK320 has sports suspension & 17in wheels. Looks great, but if I was you I'd check out the cost of a set of tyres!!! And the 17's don't last as long.

Is the CLK lower with sports suspension compared to normal?

Yes. By about 15 mm overall.
