Thinking of what to get next
I recently aquired an electronic device thats fits just behind the accelerator pedal of any Mercedes, its purpose is to eliminate any lag from low revs the car devolops due to adaptation of normal day driving, some may recall us doing the ecu reset well the SPPRINTBOOSTER elliminates the need for you to do that and stays reset all the time.

I fitted it to the car yesterday and i honestly must say that it works, in fact it works so much that the TRACTION CONTROL was lighting up and i had to feather the throttle, i am so amazed at what this device is doing. Its like driving the car like the first day it rolled out the factory TRULY AMAZING.

There is no more lag at low revs overtaking just takes a little pressure from the pedal without the need to kickdown, before it was more like either kickdown to achieve power or lag like i was driving a normal C320.

I just cannot praise this thing enough.fantastic, best mod ive done.

Where did you buy it from and what kind of money are we talking about? :)

This reminds me of the throttle-cam mod the classic porsche chaps were talking about at their last GTG, it's basically the same thing ;)

A resistor which eliminates the base values of the throttle-by-wire cars. It raises the initial values of throttle response to a higher level and thus fools the CAN into responding harder.

Its ok if you are going forwards in a straight line .... but the safety factor of sluggish off-the-line performance relates also to reverse parking, feathering into tight spaces and slow turns.

I can think of no reason why this function is
a) necessary
b) not subject to adaptation and learning, thus becoming smaller over time.

PS: Out of the dozen or so positive reports I have yet to see a photo of the actual device. Mostly the "early" reports came from people who were selling the item or peppering the forums for business.

I have absoloutly nothing to with this aforementioned company, i do not sell them nor do i intend to, all im doing is commenting on a product that i have purchased and giving my input on this forum so before you accuse me of spamming this forum for bussiness purposes get your facts right we are not all like you get it ?????

As for the reverse parking difficulty thats total bs,and since its only me that drives the car im not that bothered much either, the wifes got her scenic to do her reverse parking in tescos car park.

Shude , ive taken pictures of the device and will post pics when i get home late tonight.Price was £170.00 inc of 2 day ups delivery to your door.
Let it be known that at first i was very sceptical about the price but now that its on im so glad i took the plunge.

They do 2 types of sprint boosters for mercs wether your car is an auto or manual basically, the manual 1 is more aggresive :p

you might wanna check this out too as theres been a lot of hype from fellow merc guys in the states.

Sounds interesting but very expensive for something so simple. I'm sure a trip to Maplins and £5 would get you the kit to make one.

A picture of what the sprintbooster looks like.

The actual plug is situated behind the accelerator pedal, simply unplug the original one and fit this in between.
10 minute jobbie and all done then drive your car and feel the difference, truly amazing.

I think we all know you well enough that you would not be a stooge for someone else. But I can assure you that the very first reports came from sellers not users.

In all honesty, how does it help ?

In reality the circuit inside the adapter changes the baseline for accelerator data signals.

It starts the values at a higher level giving the impression to the ME-UNIT that throttle response jumped from 0 to a level which exceeds the non-linear mapping of low values.

Basically, it removes the spongy feel of acceleration. The spongy feel is a design feature not a defect in the car.

I imagine the signal is normalised - if it were an analogue signal then very easy to alter it's graph, the simplest being clipping low signals to a value of say 0.5 for example.

I also imagine the ECM interpolates between it's value and the desired value - this interpolation factor could be soft or hard depending on the driving style.

This does sound very interesting i must say.

Thanks for posting this Andy..they do one for the Smart car as well...hmmmmm ;)

Most likely they would be the same as the merc ones if they use the same connections, on another note the bmw guys on bimmerforums are also going nuts on this thing too so i guess its a success, i how i love driving now my new car :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

If anyone wants to sample this first hand and lives nearby then drop me a pm.

Andy, I've been reading up on these as well. 6 months on what do you think now, do you still have it fitted, did it muck up your fuel constumption?
Cheers
R2

Yup its still on, not a single glitch/problem.
fuel consumption,,,, well im averaging 21/22mpg which is about right.

Would i take it of ??? only if i sold the car to replace it on a different benz.
I just love the damn thing its very hard to describe, instant power/acceleration comes to mind though .......

Get one.....TRUST ME MATE.

Does it actually make the car accelarate faster or does it just feel faster?

The boys in the states did a few 1/4 mile runs both with and without.

.2/.3 secs consistantly quicker with it on. lemme see if i can find the thread.

Its low end thrust is what is most noticable.

Pop down to ours one sunday and ill take it off and put it on yours for you to see, cant get a better offer than than mate.

That is very kind of you, I wish you were a bit nearer! I also wish there was a UK based seller rather than having to import them. Thanks for your feedback.

SB are in greece, made payment via bacs and they ups'd it to my door within 3 days.
