Could anyone please help with my 2000 311cdi , Basically the edc light came on recently and it stopped and would not restart so had it recovered, 2 days later it would run but with low revs and intermitent edc light , After being messed about by a mechanic I bit the bullet and took it to a specialist last week ( Although on the way there it ran fine with no edc light ) ) Diagnosed as needing fuel pump overhaul and accelerator pedal ( Electric ) , Much money later I picked it up running great with no fault codes , Today I needed to use it and edc light permanantly on and 3000 rev limit again !! it is driving me mad , I have read all the edc posts but to no avail could someone please give me an idea of what the fault could be or what to check, Sorry if the above is a bit vague but I am not to mechanically minded and as the star diagnostics are coming up with no fault I am at a loss as to what to do and where to start !!! Thanks regards Paul

If the light is coming on and the ECU adopting limp home mode then there will be codes.

Thanks for the reply , I have noticed that when I recently had the sprinter serviced the fuel filter does not have the water sensor plugged in the bottom as the replacement filter has nowhere to plug it into , Could this be relevent ? thanks

Welcome to the forum. We need to know the fault codes first, but I have a couple of checks for you. Can you see coal like deposits around the rocker cover area? Will the van start easily or dose it turn over and over before starting? Dose it seem to be using a lot of fuel? Can you hear a slight chuffing noise at idle?

The fuel filter with or without the sender underneath will make no difference to the EDC light. The van will run fine with either fuel filter
