Squeaky Blower Motor? (211)

Hi All,
I'm hearing a squeaking noise whilst driving. If I hit the '0' but on the air conditioning unit the squeak goes away. (Fan stops)

So the conclusion I'm drawing is that the fan used to blow air into the cabin is to blame.

Is this the blower motor?
If yes, do I need to replace it or can existing be cleaned/lubricated??

(did a quick search and can't see any history of this on 211s)

Thanks,
shr.

I had the same in my w124, so I took the fan unit out, and cleaned up the bearings and repacked them with grease and it was fine thereafter.

The hardest it is getting to the blower.

Same problem with my W124 blower...I'm tending not to use it in case it gives up the ghost completely...how big a (garage) job is it to get the fan out and lubricate it do you reckon?

I saw your post from the search I did and I had a look at your link to what looked like quite an involved procedure for accessing it.

However, looking on EPC, it seems getting to the blower on a 211 is much simpler. (It's under the passenger side dash).

Was wondering if anyone had experinece with this on a 211?

You have to remove the Mono-Wiper and some bits and pieces to get to it,
through the engine compartment.

here's a good one:

select Anthony Tugwell's Updated R+R
(That'll get the Mono-Wiper out of the way.)

this one will show the whole shooting match:
