Seems to be lots wrong with my E320CDI. Spent today checking the interior in more details and I noticed a small orange light in centre console (Passenger Air Bag Off). Then noticed no SRS light on dash when ignition is switched on.

Had car plugged into diagnostic tester and it would seem a open circuit on passenger seat (The chap who tested said was a common fault as there is a pad under the seat cushion which breaks down with age. He said the repair either involves taking the seat apart and replacing this pad (About a £250 job as this pad was a mercedes only part) or there was a cheap fix involving a byepass wire - he said the other airbags would work with this bodge. Any thoughts please as the items wrong with my car are starting to mount

As in post 2, the wires to the seat pad pass through a hole in the metal seat base.

This hole is very sharp, I cut my finger. Join the likely broken wires together and the srs will work.

If it's the seat pad they are expensive...but an emulator will cost about £30 to fool the car...the airbag will still work.

If the SRS light in the dash doesn't work check that it is still there...mine wasn't.

Srs

Brilliant Thank you

I fitted an emulator around 3 years ago (maybe longer) and not had an issue with it. The lights go on and off with ignition as they should

Had the same fault on my W210 E Class, previous owner said it was caused by a faulty seat pad sensor. I bought an emulator off ebay for £40 and it sorted it straight away. Make sure you get one with the plug already wired, made it a piece of cake!
