Hello mate. When it comes to a class' visit Loftys web page and ask him a question. He is an expert on a class' and help you with any problem you have with ur car. Go to www.aclassinfo.co.uk

We had a problem with intermittent starting on our 2002 A160 (when it was new) it needed a new starter motor. I believe they're a common failure point on the W168 A Class.

I never heard that. I have an a class and its over 1500000 miles.only faults were fuelpump due unchanged filer and coilpack.loftys page is good but not for his problem.that needs proper diag tool

Well it's going back a few years, I just remember the Mercedes Assist / Service 24h guy saying that he'd seen a few. We'd only had the car a few months too!

There are 7 instances of starter motor related faults on lofty's FAQ page, it may be worthwhile to read through these. One owner cured their starting problem just by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes?!

probably im just a lucky guy who never bumped into one

My A class started fine agine it does not start after a short drive like going fe miles.

Can some one give me some advice please.

Starter motor problems on 168's are very common. I have replaced plenty over the years. 4hr job.

Does it turn over when the problem occurs?
