starting problem clk230 year2000

hi, for the last couple of weeks my clk230 hasn't always started 1st time but has always started on the 2nd attempt, until today the car clicks but won't do anything else.

any ideas i'm thinking battery or starter

anyone else got any ideas ?

I would suspect the battery as the primary candidate but confirm suspicions with a multimeter first and check the battery voltage which should be higher than about 12.4 volts.

Have you not been using the car much recently?

mainly short journeys ,thats why i think the battery as i've had the car 3 yrs and not changed it and the short journeys wont have charged it enough ,will dig my multimeter out.

typical can't find my meter tried again 1st attemp the starter tries to go ,so i'm thinking battery
