steering lock wont release

Hadn't realised the switch was so expensive. Good luck with it.

With 2 other people on a forum they had the same problem, I told them to take a cloth on a rag and clean the lens at the bottom of the keyhole. Its possible that something was stuck on the key and this went onto the pickup lens.

Neither of them came back with an answer so I do not know.

I re read the WIS info,,, the coding is done before you start and you take the info out of the car, nothing to do with keys being programmed on the STAR bit I have read it all

Yes that sounds expensive.I did clean both key lenses but it still wouldnt work.Left it for a hour or so then it started! if it happens again i"ll have to invest in a new eis.Anyhow im off out for a game of snooker if the bloody car will start!

Clean the lens in the switch where the key goes with a soft cloth

I agree with BlackC55, if its not dirt once they start to get 'iffy' they wont last long.

Normally its just the inconvenience of not having the car start when you want it to but i have seen some more creative failures putting the car to bed at speed.

I will keep my fingers crossed&hope that it dosnt happen to me.A quick update, its not failed since that day in March.A inde in sheffield told me to use the spare key every 3 months as they can lose the codes,i never used spare key.

If you dont hear the lock working it could well be the key rather than the lock. I replaced a key a couple of weeks back due to the same issue.

Thanks,i"ll bare that in mind.I just hope it lasts for a long time
