Steering wheel adaptor

Hi Guys,
I just bought a CLK320 2002 with steering wheel control function.
I have a kenwood DNX7220 which has Sat Nav,Blue Tooth and Rear View Camera which I like to fit to my car.

However, my question is not about fitting this as I use to do these jobs all the time but what I do like to know is if anyone has tried any adaptors that allows the aftermarket headunit to work with steering function.

Apparenetly there is an adaptor made in Germany that only allows volume control but it costs £200 which I think is extreme, later models i.e. 2005 model's adaptor is £100 but still too much.

Has nayone done this? Aftermarket headunit and used their steering?

Your experience is appreciated.

cheers

Andy

Hi, nice choice of car :-)

Does the steering wheel already control the volume? I only ask because my model has the steering wheel but doesn't actually control the volume. I checked by using this site and entering my VIN.

Does your Kenwood not have a remote with it?

£200 is alot of money just to adjust the volume using the steering wheel.

Hi Mate,
Yes it does and also you are right remote control will do the job and even that you don't need as it is only an arm stretch (I am lazy but not that lazy:bannana: ) but with most cars and I have fitted a few sound systems to even japanese imports you can buy an adaptor for £20 or £30 which takes over the controls and you think well if I have it on the steering wheel I might as well use it but £200 forget it not even worth thinking about.

I just wasn't sure if anyone else has found a solution or an adaptor somewhere that can do the job!

Take a look in the for sale section, i have a can interface that will fit your car and interface with the kenwood giving full steering wheel controls and more!!.:bannana:

Best Regards.
