Hi,
I have recently noticed that the steering wheel vibrates, normally at around 80Kmh. I have had done wheel balancing in the past week by three different companies, also wheel aligment. Still the steering vibrates.
During the last month I've had new wheels and new tyres fitted. Could the problem come from the new tyres? Can the tyre pressure have any effect on this? I've also changed the front suspension within the last few weeks.
Thanks.
Ted

Check tyre pressures are the same. I had the same issue but at 50kph turns out there was a 10 psi difference in tyre pressures across the front. Re-inflated and wobble went away.

Made sure the pressures were ok. Still vibrating. My next move will be changing the front wheels with the rear ones and see wether that cures the problem.
I'll be back with report.
Thanks

What did they do to the front suspension, replace any rubber?

I replaced the suspension struts complete before I fitted new wheels and tyres. Then I did the balancing and alignment. I'll be changing the wheels around this morning. See what happens! I also replaced the support joint that fits in the steering knuckle and the upper transverse control arm.
Thanks.
Ted

perhaps one of the alloys are slightly off balance/buckled due to potholes etc?

Could be. Though I've hardly used the car since I changed the wheels and tyres. I am now going to check after re-positioning the wheels.

Was this a problem before you did the work?

Could be a disc or hub out of balance?

I once had the problem before the works but it was rectified by balancing. As mentioned above I have now changed the wheels around and will be trying it at the weekend.
Ted
